January through December 2017

Dear Northampton Insight Meditation Community:

It with a sad and heavy heart that we are suggesting that the Sunday evening meditation, which has been going on for over 28 years, will come to an end after December 17 2017.

As the numbers of people attending the sit has decreased over recent years, so has the number and energy of the group of facilitators and steering committee members. Despite many creative efforts for the last few years by many, no substantial and sustained increase in participation has manifested. We realize we no longer have the manpower and energy to continue the sits.

We hope that you will find a refuge in community. Join the email list to link up with other folks who would like to sit in community! Maybe something new and fresh can be born! Connect with one of the many other meditation communities in the Valley (see http://northamptoninsight.org/pvsanghas.html ).

As we look back, we are filled with gratitude for the hundreds or thousands of people who may have entered the refuge of Karuna, be it for one or hundreds of meditation sits over the decades. We wish that they found their lives enriched.

We also feel deep appreciation for the many, many teachers who have come and shared the teachings freely with our drop-in group. You, the teachers, have all helped the Dhamma take root and flourish in Northampton and the world!

And countless blessing to all those whose generosity has made it possible to establish and maintain a sanctuary for Insight Meditation right here in Northampton, in the beautiful energy of the Karuna Center.

May all beings be happy, may all beings be at ease, may all beings love themselves just as they are, may all beings be at peace.

NIMC Steering Committee
Rachel, Martin, Kenko, Lisa, Larry and friends

Welcome!

We at the Northampton Insight Meditation Community (NIMC) celebrate inclusiveness. We are dedicated to being a welcoming community to all. We are firmly committed to diversity of race, class, age, ethnicity, cultural and religious background, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical and mental ability, and hope that all feel included and comfortable practicing here.

Elevator: The ancient water-pressure drive elevator in the building has broken. A new elevator is being built. In the mean time the Karuna Center space is unfortunately not accessible. Our healt-felt apologies!
